Ben Akkerman Dutch, 1920-2010
Ben Akkerman (1920-2010) had great admiration for the nature and landscapes around Enschede. He grew up with the paintings from the Rijksmuseum Twente, where he saw traditional Dutch landscape art and learned to appreciate it. He has produced a small oeuvre with paintings and drawings where the landscape was a continuous source of inspiration.
In his later work, the landscape was still the subject, but this was increasingly abstracted. From the early 70s, Akkerman made paintings and drawings that were completely abstract.
