Biography of Peter Struycken
Since 1963 Peter Struycken (*1939) is mainly concerned with the systematic study of colors and shapes. At the end of the sixties Struycken came into contact with the computer. He started using this device as a tool to analyze and design complex shapes and color changes.
Much of the work by Struycken is in the public space, the relationship here is usually to the 'physical experience of the environment’. Variations within a system and arrangement thereof is the common thread in the work of Struycken. According to him, “our world is a space filled with color”. He wishes to show nature to us in a systematic manner, not like the way nature shows it, in all its chaos.
