This work is one of only 34 Achromes that Piero Manzoni made of this type between 1961 and 1962, a number of which are in the collections of leading museums worldwide. Dutch designer Martin Visser purchased the work through the Rotterdam gallery Delta. Visser's large collection is now housed in the Kröller-Müller Museum, Otterlo, but this work was passed early on to his brother, the Dutch sculptor Carel Visser, in whose collection it has always remained.
